Vatsalyam

Vatsalyam means the tender love and care of a mother for her child. Under the guidance of Maa Shyama, who has been a mother in every sense of the word, the mission is providing a loving home and education to the young girls living in leprosy colonies of Delhi. The Mission has embarked upon a small residential project which is a haven for such poor underprivileged girls, who are staying in this clean & comfortable home situated at Aya Nagar, in the outskirts of Delhi, where they are imparted vocational skills besides their normal school curriculum for their all-round development, so that they can not only be self-sufficient, but also live their lives with dignity which every human is entitled for.

Vatslayam

Since their parents are affected with leprosy disease, these children run a very high risk of contracting this dreadful disease if they continue to live in the leprosy colony. Thus to save them from contracting the disease, through our Vatsalyam project we are relocating them from there unhygienic slums’ environment to provide a safe place to live in with a bright future.

These unfortunate children have parents who have the stigma of LEPROSY attached to them and can hardly give a healthy & secure childhood to their child. In Delhi alone hundreds of such children are living in inhuman slum conditions, in desperate need for a home of love, tender care, affection with good education, upbringing and nourishment needed for a happy, healthy and normal childhood. Young girls especially are the most venerable as they are often abused/sexually assaulted in these slums/leper colonies. Their leper parents are left with no alternative but to force them into marriage at a very tender age or are forced to beg on Delhi’s roads.
